The Dead Sea, Israel is one of the world’s premier tourist attractions but it is still remains a mystery to many: such as where to go, what to do in the area, where to book a hotel, and so on. Here at deadseaisrael.net, we’ll be giving you the lowdown on all this, of course, plus so much more.

As a quick taste of things to come, here’s a map of the Dead Sea, Israel, with some of the major stopovers also shown (and described in brief below).

  1. Masada: The desert fortress so much a part of Israel’s rich history. A must see on any trip to the Holy Land, though often visited as part of a trip to the Dead Sea, Israel.
  2. Qumran: Famous for being the spot where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.
  3. Ein Gedi: One of the major points along the Dead Sea, Israel coast, here you can float, smother some Dead Sea mud all over your body and stop over at one of Israel’s leading kibbutzim, Ein Gedi Kibbutz.
  4. Ein Bokek: The main tourist strip of Dead Sea hotels is located here.
  5. Neve Zohar: A small village on the southern end of the Dead Sea, with some cute guest houses to stay in.
  6. Mount Sodom: A hill made almost entirely of salt, it also features the famous salt pillar known as Lot’s Wife.
  7. Flour Cave: An amazing white chalk gorge – well worth a visit!
  8. Mezoke Dragot: Beautiful area with beautiful views and nice little tourist resort.
  9. Arad: Small town to the south west of the Dead Sea, Israel, and host to the recently renewed annual Arad music festival.
